Invincible I-N-V-I-N-C-I-B-L-E
Can you believe I was shut out in the first round by spelling INVINCIBLE with one N? It was the pause between I-N-V-I and C-I-B-L-E that fucked me up. My buddy Tim made it to the last round, and was then shut out by misspelling HYACINTH — which was so stupid because Tim is a HORTICULTURALIST.

Drunken Spelling Bee @ Bob & Barbara’s is an event I can stand by … not that Bob & Barbara’s needs the attention, as they are an established local dive. They are so dive, they don’t even have an official link, so, you’re just going to have to have to do your own web search. The premise of Drunken Spelling Bee is that you have to be legally drunk to participate. Unfortunately, their breathalyzer didn’t work, so, they asked that you at least appear legally drunk.
Uncut Productions hosted the event and are threatening to continue hosting the event monthly — same bat time, same bat channel. You got a Courtney Love type as MC, a Woody Harrelson / Matthew McConaughey lovechild as host, and a full-bosomed blond babe as hostess … you have to be there!
[September 16, 2007 - You can now find Bob & Barbara's online at www.myspace.com/bobandbarbaras. Drunken Spelling Bee also has new hosts and guest judges. Visit their direct link for updates: http://uncutproductions.org/drunkspelling.html]

ohh we should soo go be social! Its been too long, and even though I’ve given up hard liquor I can still get my drink on!
I’ll keep an eye out for the next months event. Hopefully this isn’t one of those one-shot things that so often happen in these clubs.
This week’s (April 4-10, 2007) Philadelphia Weekly features an article about this B&B DSB phenomenon.
Also, check out http://www.uncutproductions.org/home.htm for play date information on the mockumentary The 5th Annual Underground Drunken Spelling Bee.
I just read in the Sunday, September 16 Inquirer that Bob & Barbara’s is now collecting a cover charge of $3 for the Drunken Spelling Bee!
Hi all, Yup we did add a $3 cover to the door. We have been hosting this event for a year and were loosing a lot of money from it. Now we can at least cover our costs. Last nights bee was SICK!
